She was predeceased by: her parents, John W. Walden, Sr. and Alba Brannon Carter Walden; her son Ted Douglas Poteat, Jr.; and her siblings, Alvin Carter (Lillian), Agatha Davis (Richard), Martha Jones (Herman) and Carolyn Hill (Clyde).
She is survived by: her brother John W. Walden, Jr. (Diane). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Myrtle, who lost her son to cancer.
