We bid farewell to Ruth Melton Candler of Spartanburg, South Carolina, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on April 12, 2026 at the age of 88. Ruth touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Vosco Adam Melton (Dessie Melton) and Dessie Melton McKellar; and her siblings, Paul Melton, Larry McKellar, Jackie McKellar and Louise McKellar.
She is survived by: her husband Vester "Bud" Candler; her daughter Teresa Ann; her son-in-law Ed Vess; her grandson Eddie Vess (Katherine); her great grandchildren, George and Millie; her granddaughter Kelsey Vess; her great grandchild Wilder Grace; and her brother Steve McKellar. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-great nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service held at 12pm, Thursday April 16th, at Floyd's Greenlawn. (E. Main and Fernwood Glendale Rd. Spartanburg.) The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Baptist Spartanburg Construction Fund in her memory.
