He was predeceased by: his father William Oliver; and his wife Barbara McSwain Young. He is survived by: his pet William Oliver; his sister Pat Young of Boothbay Harbor, ME; his children, Tish McCutchen, Lucy Hooper (George), Bill Young (Barbara) and Jim Young (Kathy); his grandchildren, Warren McCutchen (Johnna), Sara McCutchen (Akiko), Will McCutchen (Katie), Kate McCutchen (Matt), Briley Hooper (Carrie), Peter Hooper (Bethany), Anne Alexander (Mark), Bryson Young, Will Young (Abby), Mary Catherine Young (Bernardo) and Anna Young (Jon); and his great grandchildren, Kei McDohi, Georgia McCutchen, Eliza, Rowan Hooper, Marlowe Hooper, David, Karen, Theodore, George Alexander, Oliver and Lena Young.
A reception was held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Country Club of Spartanburg (2500 Country Club Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29302).
The charity most meaningful to Bill was Mobile Meals of Spartanburg.
