He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

“Ed and i served in vietnam 1967 & 1968. He was one of the finest combat marines with whom i ever served. At the last vietnam platoon reunion we both attended, he reminded me of how we worked together as a team. He also reminded me of experiences that sounded amusing now but were not amusing then, we covered each other's back then, i;m glad i got to visit with him last december. I will miss him.
