We are sad to announce that on July 4, 2023, at the age of 96, Vera Wertz of Springfield, South Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Sidney Ballard and Callie Smith Ballard; her former life partner John Alexander Bookhart Wertz; her husband Ghents Branch Baptist Church; and her brother-in-law Jeri (Max Reed).

She is survived by : her daughters, Pat Kiser of Winston-Salem, NC and Melody Ford of Florence, SC; her grandsons, Robert Kiser (Kathy) and John A. Wertz; and her great grandchildren, Ryan Miles Kiser and Kate Wells.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Barnwell County Animal Shelter, 57 Wall St., Barnwell, SC 29812.
