He was predeceased by: his parents, Olin Lester Shirer, Sr. and Sadie McLeod Hensley; and his in-laws, William A. Hayden, Sr. and Beatrice Ray Hayden. He is survived by: his wife Sally Ann Parks Shirer; his children, Tiffany Boing (Eric) of Manning, George Shirer of Myrtle Beach, Lisa Shirer of Manning, Russell Thomas (Amanda) of Sumter and Jessica Shirer (Luke Lumley) of Manning; and his siblings, Olin L. Shirer, Jr. (Kathy) of Sumter, Mickey Shirer (Patty) of Sumter and Betty Meyers (Donnie) of Sumter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
