She was predeceased by: her parents, John Frederick Quirk and Dorothy Isabel Moriarty Quirk; her great grandchild Samuel James Saunders; and her brothers, Peter Quirk and Jack Quirk.

She is survived by: her husband Paul E. Makowski of Summerville, SC; her son Paul Makowski, Jr. of Summerville, SC; her daughter-in-law MaryAnn Makowski of Summerville, SC; her daughters, Deborah Makowski of Summerville, SC and Therese Wright of Merrimack, NH; her son-in-law Chris Wright of Merrimack, NH; and her siblings, Tom Quirk of Albuquerque, NM and Kathy Jackson of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, or the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
