It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Janet Charles Nye of Summerville, South Carolina, who passed away on July 24, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Francis Kramer Nimitz and Virginia Godfrey Nimitz; her sister Jean Behling; and her son William Nye. She is survived by: her children, Michael Nye (Carolyn), Janet Lee Nye (Jason) and Mark Nye; her sister Eunis Benecke; her niece Francine Meyer; her grandchildren, Douglas Nye, Daniel Robertson, Sarah Gibbs, Laura Schulz, Alexis Cook, Caitlin Rumph, Eamonn Nye, Eilish Nye and Alexandria Kessel; her great grandchildren, Veronica (Ronnie), June, Kate, Rachel, Kensley, Adleigh, Wyatt, Hannah, Hunter, Tyler, Tanner, Harper and James; and her daughter-in-law Staci Witt.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home (869 St James Ave, Goose Creek, SC 29445). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Holly Cemetery.
