The family announces the passing of Kathy Engel (Summerville, South Carolina) on September 30, 2026. Kathy, born on July 9, 1953 in Greencastle, Indiana, was part of many shared moments and relationships throughout life. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Hassler and Betty Hassler; and her grandchildren, Benjamin and Thomas Wieckowski. She is survived by: her children, Christopher Engel, Jennifer Wieckowski (Peter) and Amanda Goodrich; her grandchildren, Matthew Wieckowski, Lizzie Wieckowski, Colton Goodrich and Brantley Goodrich; and her siblings, Harold Hassler (Carrie) and Karen Davis (Harold).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the James A. Dyal Funeral Home (303 S Main St, Summerville, SC 29483). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Berkeley Animal Center, 131 Central Berkeley Drive, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
