He was predeceased by: his parents, James Platt and Addie Lou Fogle Platt; his children, Stephen Michael Platt, Sr. and Sharon Tam; his grandson Andrew Carroll; and his siblings, Jimmie Lou Platt, Charles W. Platt, James Edward Platt and Ronnie Platt.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ann Phillips Platt; his son Douglas Bryon Platt (Tonia); and his grandchildren, Brandi Farley (Justin), Krystle Carroll, Stephanie Carroll, Michael Platt (Laura), Bryon Platt (Haley), Hunter Platt (Heaven), Cody Platt and Christopher Carroll. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 26th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel (3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy, Charleston, SC 29414). A funeral service was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 at the Live Oak Memorial Gardens (3093 Ashley River Rd, Charleston, SC 29414).
