It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Carrie Bethea Ballard (Sumter, South Carolina), born in Marion, South Carolina, who passed away on September 5, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Calvin Bethea and Annie M. Abraham Bethea; her husband James Ballard, Jr.; and her brothers, Lee "Dock" Bethea and James Edward Bethea.
She is survived by: her daughter Betty Broadus (James); her sister Alma Kennedy (John) of Sumter; and her close friends, Harry McLeod of Sumter, Darlene Pullen of New York and Carrie Terry of Sumter. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation from 3:00 – 7:00 p m. at the family home, 1982 Forest Drive, Sumter.
