She was predeceased by: her husband John Reginald Matthews, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, John Reginald Matthews, Jr. (Barbara) of Castle Hayne, NC and Meredith Gill Holland (Jimmy) of Sumter, SC; her granddaughters, Susan Gill Turner (Mike) of Newport News, VA, Margaret Darden Matthews of Charlotte, NC and Lila Gill Hobgood of Atlantic Beach, NC; and her great grandchildren, Ella Gill Turner, Alfred Llewellyn Hobgood, Clara Odette Hobgood and Jewell Gooding Hobgood. She is also survived by Two nieces and one nephew.
Eleanor lived through the Spanish Flu, two world wars, and the Great Depression, then to beat the Coronavirus at the age of 104 years and 10 months young.
