James Cocklin Sr. Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Cocklin Sr. (Sumter, South Carolina), who passed away on April 23, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Cocklin Sr. to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Cocklin and Rebecca Wells Cocklin; his siblings, Ophelia, Agnes, Eva, Marie, Ernest, William and Abraham; his parents-in-law, Willie Brunson and Inez P. Brunson; and his siblings-in-law, Minnie Lee Cocklin, Theresa Cocklin, Edith Williams, Hattie Richburg, Reverend Nelson Eaddy, Charles Webster, Thomas Williams, Jr., W. A. Williams, John Brunson, DeLeon T. Brunson, Sr., Larry Brunson, Isaiah Brunson and Willie E. Brown.
He is survived by: his son Jesus; his wife Willene Brunson Cocklin; his children, James Cocklin, Jr. (Geraldine), Evette Hickmon, Jr. (Sylvester) and Evonne Covington (Timothy); his grandchildren, James T. (Shawnita), Jeffrey and Stephanie; his great grandchildren, Jason, Shaun, Jordan and Shanice; his sister Dorothy Webster; and his sisters-in-law, Merline B. Brown, Erlene B. Williams and Angela Brunson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, numerous devoted added children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews who honored him as father, grandfather, and uncle, other relatives, and friends.
Each year of their anniversary, they gave a dollar for each year as a special donation to the BF Weston Scholarship Foundation of the church.
