It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James Olden Jr. (Sumter, South Carolina), who passed away on December 25, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Olden and Annette Sumpter Olden; his siblings, Kaiser, Henry, Marcus, Richard, Willie, Daisy, Mattie, Annette and Lou; and his granddaughter Kellye McReynolds.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Gathers Olden; his children, Alvin Olden (Francesca), Maggie Byrd (Frank), Sharon "Dessa" King (Vernon) of James, Olden, Jr. (Beatrice), Charles Michael and Loretta McCauley (Rickey); and his great grandchild Elias Ingram. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In accord with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home, Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Wayman Chapel A. M. E. Church, 160 North Kings Highway, Sumter, with the Rev. Robert L. China, Jr., Pastor, Eulogist.
