It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Rivers III (Sumter, South Carolina), who passed away on January 19, 2024, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Rivers III to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Rivers, Jr. and Wilhelminia Jacobs Rivers; his stepdaughter Hilda Y. Coston; and his grandparents, James Rivers, Sr., Charlotte Haile Rivers, Jerry Ricks and Susanna Wright Bowen.
He is survived by: his wife Lula Coston Rivers of Decatur, Georgia; his stepdaughter Dana Coston of Decatur, Georgia; and his siblings, David Rivers of Dalzell, S. C., Jerry Rivers (Sarah) of Bronx, NY and Cynthia Whiting (Joseph) of Dalzell. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; six uncles; five aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 5670 Fish Road, Dalzell.
