It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Canady Shorter Jr. (Sumter, South Carolina), born in Alcolu, South Carolina, who passed away on June 7, 2022, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Canady Shorter, Sr. and Maude Aycock Shorter; his daughter Jan Buzze; his stepdaughter Cathy Taylor; his grandson Al Shelly; and his siblings, Wilburn Shorter, Furman Shorter and Shirley Lowder.
He is survived by: his children, Canady "Candy" Mitchum and James "Jim" C. Shorter, III (Molly); his stepdaughter Marilyn Bordeaux; his grandchildren, Dana Faust (Carl), Julie Lee (Bert), Tim Shorter (Karen), Kristin Chipley (Marshall) and Ashley Otto (Dan); his stepgrandchildren, Lisa Benenhaley, Jeff Taylor, Derrick Rogers and Lee Rogers; his great grandchildren, Gene, Thomas, Brystol, Brelynn, Riley, Finn, Eliana, Dylan, Isaac, Faith and Joshua; and his sister Mary Ola Todd. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
