John Rowland Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Rowland (Sumter, South Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 7, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Harris Rowland, Sr. and Maggie Alford Rowland; and his daughter Ashley Rae Rowland. He is survived by: his spouse Ellie Flowers Rowland; his children, John Rowland, Jr. (Jay), Kim Rowland Malone of Leesville, Heather Rowland Hodge (Cecil, Jr.) of Manning and Kendra Rowland Hoover (Todd) of Sumter; his siblings, George of Sumter, Daniel of Sumter, Timmy Rowland of Sumter, Sarah Knowlton of New Zion, Gulie Frasier and Mary Van Patten of Sumter; and his grandchildren, Rachelle Lawrence, Ryan Lawerence, Jon Ashton Hobgood, J. P. Rowland, Wyatt Duke Rowland, Hope Kelly, Hunter Hobgood, Ashley Rae Hodge, Berkley Hoover, Kinlyn Hoover and Hannah Hoover. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 12th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home (221 Broad St, Sumter, SC 29150). A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight (221 Broad St, Sumter, SC 29150).
