He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Brooks, Sr. and Fannie Williams Brooks; his wife Patricia Hunter Brooks; his son Joseph "Trez" Brooks; his siblings, Robert Brooks, Edith Ramsey and Louise McCain; his siblings-in-law, Elizabeth Brooks, Joann Brooks, John Hunter and Benjamin Ramsey; and his father-in-law Charlie Hunter.
He is survived by: his children, Andre Brooks, Sanquinetta Johnson (Joseph) and Victoria Coakley (Tyrone); his siblings, Edward Brooks Jr. and Hattie Mae Rembert; his siblings-in-law, Mary River (Ronnie), Charles Hunter and Tony Hunter; and his mother-in-law Elizabeth Hunter. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
