It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joshua McQuilla (Sumter, South Carolina), born in Paxville, South Carolina, who passed away on April 4, 2024, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Hosea McQuilla and Janie Green McQuilla; his daughter Cherise J. McQuilla-Mitchell; and his siblings, Fannie McQuilla-Dukes, Katie McQuilla-Leach, Hosea, James and Willie M. McQuilla.

He is survived by : his grandchildren, Katelyn A. Mitchell, Sydney C. Mitchell and Robert J. Mitchell; his sisters, Janie Harris (Larry) and Julia Gregg; his daughter Vernessa LeSane; and his nephew Julian Harris (S. C.) of Sumter. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, church members and friends.

Viewing was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel AME Church (1257 McLeod Rd, Manning, SC 29102). A procession was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at 11:15 AM at the Williams Funeral Home (821 N Main St, Sumter, SC 29150). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Chapel AME Church (1257 McLeod Rd, Manning, SC 29102). In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home.
