She is survived by: her mother Evelyn Larson Nielsen; her husband Robert James Karel; her sons, Tom Karel (Daphne) of Greenwood, SC and Scott Karel of Sumter, SC; her siblings, Ron Nielsen (Chris) of Elizabeth, CO and Debbie Vance (John) of Coleman, TX; her grandchildren, Jennifer Michaloski (Gabriel), David Karel, Kathy Randall (Jonathan) and Rebecca Karel; and her great grandchildren, Mark, Hudson and Rhodes.

Visitation was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bullock Funeral Home & Crematorium (1190 Wilson Hall Rd, Sumter, SC 29150). A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
