Marian Louise (Kind) Washington Obituary

Marian Louise Washington, 44, of Sumter, South Carolina, died Wednesday, October 31, 1962, at Tuomney Hospital, Sumter, after a brief illness.

Born on April 3, 1918, in Sumter, she was a daughter of Leila (Kind) Burgess, of Sumter. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Washington Sr., on Apr. 25, 1954.

Mrs. Washington was a member of the Allen Chapel and served with the stewardness Board.

Surviving in addition to her mother are one daughter, Lelia M. Washington; eight sons, James L. Washington Jr., Joseph A. Washington, Marvin Washington, Marion L. Washington, Henry V. Washington, Willie Washington, George Washington and Frank Washington, all of Sumter, and two sisters, Maybell Charles, of Sumter, and Annie Southall, of Bronx, New York.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Allen Chapel AME church. Final rites will be conducted by reverend C. Caughn.

Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Palmer Memorial Chapel this evening at 6.
