She was predeceased by: her mother Elizabeth Hasty Compton; her son Robert Van Buren Byrd, Jr.; and her siblings, B. R. Compton, Dorothy C. Eaddy, Arland H. Compton and Elizabeth C. Wright.
She is survived by: her daughter Barbara B. Merritt (S. C.) of Charleston; her grandchildren, Robbie Byrd of Alabaster, Ronnie Byrd of Miami, Becky B. Callaham (Chip) of Greenville, S. C., Julie M. Mims of Columbia, Kathy M. Richardson of Columbia, S. C. and Jennie M. Richardson (Selby) of Charleston; and her daughter-in-law Angelia Byrd of Greenville, S. C..
