It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Chewning Lowder (Sumter, South Carolina), born in Mullins, South Carolina, who passed away on August 30, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Wiley S. Lowder; her parents, Rev. Claudius Chewning and Alliene Leach Chewning; her son David Scott "Scotty" Lowder; her grandsons, Brandon Lowder and Keith Lowder; and her siblings, Claudius Chewning, Jr., Gene Chewning, Rev. Boyd Chewning and Iris Beaver.
She is survived by: her children, Bobby Lowder of Mayesville, Maryanne Lowder of Sumter, Marty Sturgeon (Bobby) of Paxville and Tom Lowder (Angie) of Tupelo, MS; her daughter-in-law Kim Lowder; her stepchildren, Debbie Ehlers of Sumter and Skip Lowder (Patricia) of Senatobia, MS; and her grandchildren, Chrissy Hodge, Heather Jones, Justin Lowder, Skyler Lowder, Wesley Lowder, Amber Scamardo, Troy Lamontagne, Autumn Christman and McKenzie Lowder. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren.
