She was predeceased by: her husbands, James Allison Hill, Sr. and Delbert Knox Newman; her parents, Arthur Hawkins and Hannah Parnell Hawkins; her son Delbert Wayne Newman; her grandson Shawn Arrants; her great grandchild Maryann Large; and her brothers, Eddie Hawkins and Charlie Hawkins.
She is survived by: her children, Cherlyn Arrants (Gerald) of Bishopville and James A. "Buddy" Hill, Jr. (Mary) of Bishopville; her grandchildren, Brad Arrants (Kristy), Nicole Colvin (Al), Kimberly "Sissy" Colvin and Mary Allison Esposito (Sean); her great grandchildren, Brandon Arrants, Cullen Arrants, Kinsley Arrants, Gracie Large, Adalynn Large, Lila Large, Xander Hopkins, Aubreigh Hopkins, Isaac Esposito and Sybil Esposito; her sister Nettie Grace Thornton; and her sisters-in-law, Ann Hawkins and Bertie Hawkins Taylor.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Eastside Baptist Church (701 Boulevard Rd, Sumter, SC 29153). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
