He was predeceased by: his parents, John Herbert Thigpen and Bernice Kennedy Thigpen of Virginia; and his daughter Rosalind Blackmon of Virginia. He is survived by: his children, Paul Daniel Thigpen (Faye) of Columbia, SC and Deborah Ann Thigpen Duby (Gary) of Sumter, SC; his son-in-law David Blackmon of Sumter, SC; his grandchildren, Sharolyn Blackmon Ellis (Ted) of Sumter, SC, Chris Blackmon of Sumter, SC, Jessica Duby of Sumter, SC, Mark Thigpen of Columbia, SC and Kevin Thigpen (Taylor) of Columbia, SC; and his great grandchildren, Chloe Blackmon, Eva Thigpen and Emma Thigpen.
