He was predeceased by: his parents, Ann Nelson and Joseph Riley; his sister Debra Ann Nelson Green; his grandparents, Millie Ann Jackson Nelson, Joe Nelson, Phronie Riley and Jacob Riley; his aunts and uncles, Ida Ma Hatcher, Lucille Nelson Junious, James Nelson and Joe Nelson; and his brother-in-law John Green.
He is survived by: his siblings, Eddie Nelson (Elvira) of Newark and Leshawn Nelson of Newark; his aunt Fannie Bell Johnson of Thomasville; his nieces, Stephanie Johnson (Tory) of Pinewood and Lavonda Gary (Ira) of Columbia; and his nephew Derrick Green of Rimini. He is also survived by cousins, other relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Whites Mortuary (517 N Guignard Dr, Sumter, SC 29150). A graveside service was held on Saturday, May 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Antioch Memorial Gardens (10045 Old River Rd, Pinewood, SC 29128).
