He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Shelton James and Janet Arndt James. He is survived by: his wife Carol; his daughters, Amanda and Courtney; and his sisters, Mary Ann Duke and Margaret Branham. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
