He was predeceased by: his grandparents, P. R. Mixon, Sr. and Pearline Boyce Mixon Outlaw; his stepgrandfather Jay Outlaw; and his grandparents, James and Ollie Mae Morris, Sr..

He is survived by: his wife Janice Peters Mixon; his parents, Peter R. "Pete" Mixon, Jr. and Victoria Morris Mixon; his children, Nicholas Caldwell, McKenzie Mixon, Victoria Mixon and Olivia Mixon; and his brother Kevin Mixon.
