He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Jennings Jackson and Florence Barefoot Jackson; and his siblings, Gertrude Jackson Harris, Ora Jackson Tisdale, Doris Jackson Gardner, Alton Jackson, Leon Jackson, James Jackson and Wilbur Jackson.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia "Jenny" Smith Jackson; his children, Van Hugh Jackson, Jr. of Sumter, Melanie Jackson Hancock (Dan) of Sumter, Kim Jackson Galloway (Bobby) of Sumter and Jennifer Jackson Settle (Rob) of Fort Mill; his grandchildren, Clay Galloway, Christopher Galloway, William Hancock, Van Hugh Jackson, III, Jackson Settle, Stewart Settle, Jeremy Touchstone, Nic Touchstone, Brenden Touchstone, Court Settle, Lauren Galloway, Caroline Hancock, Sarah Hancock Skinner and Katherine Hancock; and his friends, Dan Lyles, W. R. "Billy" McLeod, Robert "Bobby" Richardson and Les Odom. He is also survived by 4 great granddaughters; a number of nieces and nephews.
