He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Edward and Ileen Dennis Thompson; and his brothers, Donald Thompson, Sr. and Robert Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Caroline Thompson Thompson; his daughters, Allison Thompson Taffer (Ron) and Caroline Thompson Thomas (John); his grandchildren, Jessica Thomas Kamlet (Adam), Aaron Grant Taffer (Anna Kate), John Adam Taylor, Jr. (Kimmy), Anna Caroline Taffer Bayne (Derek) and Daniel Henson Taffer (Madison); his sister Doris Thompson Collins; and his close friends, Vicky Carty, Don, Ivy Smith and Linville Courts. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Post 15.
