It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Za'Hiar Cokley Hammett (Sumter, South Carolina), who passed away on February 4, 2022, at the age of 9, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his mother Lasheda Cokley; his brothers, Malcolm Cokley of Patterson, N. J., Amir Cokley of Columbia and Zuri Cokley of Sumter; his great-grandparent Sadell Johnson of Sumter; his grandparents, Janie Williams (Lacy) of Sumter and Frank Cokley of Sumter; his uncle Frank D. Cokley; his aunt Erica Whitney; his godmother Latasha Pickens; his cousins, Elle Clark of Sumter, Amarion Pack of Sumter, Basir Wells of Sumter, Michael Evans, Jr. of Sumter and Bryson Heyward of Columbia; his great-uncles, Eric Johnson, Wendell Pack and Tony Wells of Sumter; and his close friend Kayden Dingle of Sumter. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during all visitation at the home, 1045 Dibert Street, Sumter.
