He is survived by: his wife Dr. Marga Faith Massey; his children, Beth Barnard Blum (Buck) and Howard D. Barnard IV (Julie); his grandchildren, Dr. Andrew Ellis Blum (Courtney), Catherine Blum MacLaren (Stephen), Sarah Barnard Watson (Will), James Cole Barnard and Ella Rose Barnard; and his sister Doty Barnard Dunn (JD).
