He was predeceased by: his father Jack Shurling; and his nephew Blake Shurling. He is survived by: his mother Mary Shurling of Tennille, GA; his wife Gail Shurling; his children, Jason Carter (Amy) of Santee, SC and Whitney Giavelli (Freddy) of Pinopolis, SC; his grandchildren, Taylor Pinero (David), Brandon Carter, Sullivan Giavelli and Louis Giavelli; his great grandchild Javier Pinero; his godson Andrew Koester; and his siblings, Jimmy Shurling (Cheryl) of Ludowici, GA, Barry Shurling (Renee) of Tennille, GA and Dawn S. Mills (Heath) of Gray, GA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Piney Mount Church (3065 Old Savannah Rd, Tennille, GA 31089). The military honors will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
