We announce the death of Susan Elaine Whitten of Swansea, South Carolina, who passed away on October 15, 2026. She was predeceased by: her husband Paul William Whitten; and her parents, Darby Barrington Roberts and Melba Grantham Roberts. She is survived by: her children, Arthur Curtis Lavender, II of Sandy Run, Ken Darby Lavender of Lugoff, Paul William "P. J." Whitten, II (Roberta) of Providence, Rebecca Elizabeth Whitten of Sandy Run, Timothy Ryan Whitten (Nichole) of Swansea and Tyler Roberts Whitten of Sandy Run; and her brothers, Don Roberts (Debbie) of Franklin, NC and Tillman Roberts of Florida. She is also survived by six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Gaston (121 Oakey Springs Dr, Gaston, SC 29053). A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
