He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlile Haney and Ruby Walls Haney; and his brothers, Larry Haney and Dennis Haney. He is survived by: his wife Vivian Lavender Haney; his son Brad Haney (Summer); his granddaughters, Adelyn and Madison of Greenville, SC; his brother Thurman Breedlove (Freddie) of Bryson City; and his siblings-in-law, Katherine Lavender of Chapin, SC and Johnny Lavender (Beverly) of Ellenboro. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home (359 E Church St, Bostic, NC 28018). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 3:30 PM at the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's name to Corinth Baptist Church, 767 Pinehurst Road, Ellenboro, NC 28040.
