With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Bobby Joe Atkinson (Turbeville, South Carolina), born in Sumter, South Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 10, 2025 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Kathryn Jordan Atkinson; his parents, William Thomas and Ethel Morris Atkinson; and his siblings, Donnie Atkinson, Charles Atkinson, Cecil Atkinson, Ethleen Thomas, Glellan Atkinson, Rhoetta Oliva and Billy Atkinson.
He is survived by: his children, Tad Atkinson (Sarah) of Rock Hill and Marla Matthews (James) of Florence; his grandchildren, Cole Rodgers, Ethan Matthews, Mason Matthews, Emily Atkinson, Morgan Atkinson and Harper Atkinson; and his siblings, Sylvia Jean Thomas, Lois Coker and J. T. Atkinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Olive Grove Church, 1440 Olive Grove Road, Turbeville, SC 29162, in Bobby's memory.
