He was predeceased by : his parents, Woodrow Smith and Alice Eison Smith; his son Grover Smith Jr. "Kip"; and his siblings, Cecil Smith, Julius Smith, Roy Lee Smith, Woodrow Smith Jr., Millie Lindsay, Essie Merle Jennings, Aliceteen Harris Smith, Jessie Mae Stewart and Rosa Lee Smith.
He is survived by : his children, Jared N. Smith Sr. (Angela) and Monica R. Betsill (Joseph); and his siblings, Nelson Smith and Annie Porter. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
