He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Heath and Legatha Yon Heath; his wife Eleanor Mary Whelan Heath; his daughters, Vickie Plunkett and Diane Franklin; his siblings, Laura Heath, William Heath and Harold Ray Heath; and his brother-in-law Harlond Jackson.
He is survived by: his children, Wayne Heath (Rhonda), Mary Heath and Kenny Heath (Justina); his grandchildren, Mitch Plunkett, Cody Green (Jennifer), Dylan Green, Chase Heath, Chance Heath (Lauren) and Jeremy Heath; his sisters, Annette Jackson and Patsy Cook (Mary Lou Anderson); and his pet Buffy. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Bethcar Baptist Church (950 Bethcar Church Rd, Wagener, SC 29164). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to Bethcar Baptist Church in honor of Gene.
