She was predeceased by : her father William Everett Cox; her husband Johnny E. Howell; her sons, Randall Eugene Howell and Roger Glen Howell; and her siblings, Harold Cox, Jeanette Cox Bryant, Betty Cox Hogue and June Lineberger Price.

She is survived by : her children, Phyllis Howell Hoosier (Lynn) and Russell Howell (Tammy); her grandchildren, Bill Meek (Heather), John Meek (Jerri), Randall Howell (Sara), Robert Howell (Hannah), Timothy Howell, Megan Hoosier, Michael Hoosier and Stephen Hoosier (Jenna); and her sister Linda Lineberger Hodges (Wayne Hodges). She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
