He was predeceased by: his parents, Caleb Donihue Avant and Tula Elizabeth Butler Avant; his great grandchild Ezra Lawrence Anderson; and his siblings, Polly Anne Avant DeWitt, Carl Lee Avant and Robert Neal Avant.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Webb Avant; his children, Donnie Avant, Jr. (Angie) of Ocala and Katrina Avant Reeves (Jason) of Cottageville; his siblings, Peggy Avant White of Walterboro and James Earl Avant of Alabama; his grandchildren, Ariel Amberly Avant, Elizabeth Ann Reeves Anderson (Jonathan), Thomas Ethan Reeves (Jenna), Wyatt Donihue Reeves and Rowan Halsey Reeves; and his great grandchildren, Eleanor Joy Anderson and Thomas Richard Reeves.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be directed in his memory to Northside Christian Church, Post Office Box 1793, Walterboro, SC 29488.
