He was predeceased by: his parents, Haskell Carter and Goldie Hartley Carter. He is survived by: his wife Mitzi Mabe Carter; Phillip Mabe (Charlene) and Gina Mabe-Smith (Eddie).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Doctor's Creek Baptist Church, The First Baptist Church of Walterboro, or Bethel Presbyterian Church.
