He is survived by: his wife Joyce A. Simmons Hodges; his children, Jona'L. Hodges, Jametta Hodges-Stewart (Gregory), Joel E. Hodges (Keri) and Justin P. Hodges (Brittany); his siblings, Gloria Jean Daniels (Willie) and Leonard Hodges; his stepchildren, Benjamin Simmons (Jane), Latonya Smoaks (Michael), Kevin Simmons, Ronnie Simmons and Michael Simmons; his siblings-in-law, Judy Hodges, Bertie M. Cockrum, Alice Penn, Barbara Ford, Stella Robinson (Kevin), Odell Ford, Fred Ford (Betty) and Earnest Ford (Jacky); and his friend Jane Canaby. He is also survived by seventeen step-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren.

Viewing was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Stephens Funeral Home (1767 Jefferies Hwy, Walterboro, SC 29488). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Springtown United Methodist Church (8807 Augusta Hwy, Smoaks, SC 29481). An entombment will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at the Old Miss Cemetery (5421 Augusta Hwy, Smoaks, SC 29481).
