He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Robertson Hiott; and his siblings, Robert Fuller "Bob" Hiott, James Edwin "Eddie" Hiott, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Hiott Hayden Downey and David Weston Hiott.
He is survived by: his sons, John Jr. and Perry; his daughter-in-law Lisa Dyches Hiott; his grandchildren, Mary Caroline Hiott Chou (Pablo), John Steven Hiott, III, Mariah Anne Hiott Schreiner (Charlie) and Ella Cleland Hiott; his sister Rosemary Hiott Hadwin (George "Happy" Hadwin); his sister-in-law Barbara Shealy Hiott; Mary Brown and Robin Williams. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
