She is survived by: her children, Vonetta Stephens (Edward), Jonathan Jakes of New York, Jeannette Jakes, Joseph Jakes (Linda) of New York, Margie Murray (Grady), Anthony Jakes (Nichelle), WhitfieldJakes, Vera Jakes and John Jakes; her siblings, Robert Lee Franklin Meynard of New York and Olinthia Meynard (Sharon Hallman) of New York; her aunt Redell Fields; her close friend Earlene Risher; and her nieces and nephews, Daniel Meynard Jr. and Josey Simmons. She is also survived by Twenty-two grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
