He is survived by: his mother Virginia Newton Boatwright of Brooklyn; his aunt Sallie Boatwright Stephens "Boss Lady" of Ruffin; his brother Jimmy Newton Boatwright of Ruffin; his children, Laquita Riley of Blythewood, Tonza Johnson, Myra Boatwright, Ruben Boatwright, Stephen Boatwright, Sophia Boatwright of Columbia, Tamika Jenkins of Charlotte, Demarios "Molly Fox" Jenkins of Walterboro and Laronda Jenkins of West Columbia; his aunt Louise Henderson (Sam) of Teaneck; his uncle Clarence Newton of Brooklyn; his cousins, John W. Stephens, Jr. and Wilmar Stephens; and his close friends, Bernard Crosby, Maurice Dubois, Terenna Johnson and Genobia Sanders. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stephens Funeral Home (1767 Jefferies Hwy, Walterboro, SC 29488). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church (19840 Lowcountry Hwy, Ruffin, SC 29475).
