She was predeceased by: her parents, John C. Downing and Ruth Frances Haney Downing; and her siblings, John Francis and Janet Watson. She is survived by: her husband James Robert Gallagher; her children, Anna Rivers, Bill Brown, Charles Brown, Melissa "Kelly" Polk and Madeline Gehrig; and her sister Ruth DeRush. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 13th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brice Herndon Funeral Home - Walterboro Chapel (1193 Bells Hwy, Walterboro, SC 29488). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
