He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Cornelius and Beulah Beatrice Simmons Cowles; his former wife Betty Jean Crocker Cowles; his stepson Danny Earl Crocker; his great grandchild Erin Michelle Willoughby; and his brothers, Dick, Ed and Harold Cowles.
He is survived by: his daughters, Lena Jane Jobe (John Kerr) of Easley and Kathy Earl Willoughby of Fountain Inn; his stepdaughters, Mary Crocker Lanford (Tracy) of Waterloo and Phyllis Joyce Bishop of Mayo; and his grandchildren, Brian Patrick Willoughby, Amanda Willoughby, Kevin Andrew Willoughby (Tammy), Kenneth Jobe (Paige), Tiffany Grindstaff (John), Kristin Lanford, Shane Bishop (Megan) and Amanda Bishop (Beau). He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
