He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleo Garren and Hattie Hodgsett Garren; and his sister Anna Jean Chapman. He is survived by: his close friends, Bobby Perkins and Howard "Sonny" Simmons; his nieces, Vickie Diana Chapman Pelfry and Crystal Mitchell; and his nephew Mickey Ray Chapman.
