With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Eddie Michael Smith of West Columbia, South Carolina, who passed away on May 4, 2025 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Jones and Rosetta Burts Smith; and his brother William H. Smith. He is survived by: his wife Sarah Cook Smith; his stepdaughters, Lakesicha Davis (Allen) of West Columbia, SC and Tiaja Pickens of West Columbia, SC; his brothers, Marion Smith (Sandra) of Greenville, SC, Harold Barton (Sophia) of Lawrenceville, GA and Reverend Willie James Choice (Hennie) of Simpsonville, SC; his grandchildren, Lavarus Clark, Jalasia Miller, Sarhara Gibbs, Ayanna Butler, Paris Pickens, Sliyah Gibbs and Shamar Gibbs; his brothers, Osirion Robinson and Si'Yon Potts; and his niece Lisa Hampton. He is also survived by five sisters-in-law, two brothers-inn-law; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, May 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday, May 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, May 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Olive Cme Church (657 Gibson Rd, Lexington, SC 29072).
