She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Griffin and Urmerlee Birchmore Griffin; her former husband Billy Ray Chavis; and her daughters, Melinda Gail Chavis and Sherrie Hart.
She is survived by: her husband Wayne Amerson; and her children, Barry Chavis (Diana), Rev. Donald Chavis, Kim Gartman, Bonnie Owens, Mary Shirey and Brandy Henley. She is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
